Therapeutic Modalities

EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidenced-based treatment designed to reduce the emotional, cognitive, and somatic impact of distressing experiences. As a certified EMDR practitioner, I have training in guiding both children and adults through this transformative process.

Play Therapy
Young children tend to organize and narrate their experiences through play, as opposed to through verbal processing. I use a number of play-based interventions, including synergetic play therapy, structured play therapy, and creative/art-based therapies to support children in expressing themselves and regulating their nervous systems.

Child Parent Psychotherapy
Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a play-based therapy for young children (0-5 years old) and their caregivers who have survived distressing or traumatic experiences, including family separation. Taking a multigenerational approach to healing, CPP is designed to strengthen the connection between child and caregiver, and support the family in healing together. I have specialized training and ongoing supervision in providing this intervention to families.

Integrated Approaches
There is no single path towards healing. My therapeutic approach integrates training and knowledge from a number of modalities, including Internal Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, TheraPlay, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I try to tailor my interventions to the unique needs of the children and families I work with.
In-Person and Virtual Options
When working with children and youth under the age of 15, I prefer to meet in-person (as opposed to virtually) whenever possible. For youth and adults over 15, we can meet virtually or in-person, depending on preference.
